Don’t let Snowmass Village’s serene appearance fool you: this small mountain village is highly cultured. The nearby Anderson Ranch Arts Center has become a destination of choice for artists looking to hone their craft, and in summer — when the slopes of Snowmass turn into fields of flowers — the town’s annual free concert series becomes the perfect setting for live music and a picnic. Oh, and did we mention that Aspen — and all of its cultural treasures — is just a short drive away?
Throughout the summer, Snowmass Village takes full advantage of the sublime weather with a series of outdoor concerts at the base of the mountain.
Anderson Ranch Arts Center
This esteemed arts center off Owl Creek Road offers an awesome roster of multi-discipline workshops, as well as events that mix nature and the active outdoor lifestyle with the arts.
Ice Age Discovery Center
Long before skiers discovered this valley, mammoths did. In 2010, one of the most important ice age fossil beds was unearthed right here. See the Snowmastodon at this free museum.
Just 20 minutes away is downtown Aspen, the hub of arts and culture in the valley. Visit the Aspen Art Museum, the Aspen Institute or one of two ghost towns, or catch a concert or film at the Wheeler Opera House.
