From experiencing the best conditions on Bald Mountain to traipsing through the snow with our friends at the Sun Valley Environmental Resource Center, we've pulled together some of our favorite ways to enjoy the area, exclusive to you.

First Tracks on Baldy

First up on Baldy! Guided inside scoop of Baldy with pros from SV Snow Sport School. Guest are able to take a run or possibly two before the mountain opens to the public courtesy of the Limelight Hotel. It is technically a half-day group guide so the guests can continue to ski with the SV guide or go on their own after first ups.
  • Guests must be advanced / intermediate / expert and can either ski or snowboard.
  • Guests will be departing from the hotel at 8:00am. We provide transportation.
  • 18 years old minimum
  • Maximum of 3 guest (must be part of the same party)

Dark Sky Dinners

Idaho is home to the country’s first Dark Sky Reserve, and Ketchum/Sun Valley is lucky enough to be the epicenter for the astral activity. The Limelight Hotel, which prides itself upon connecting guests with the best local experiences, has partnered with Sun Valley Guides to offer a brand-new Dark Sky Dinner, located deep in the reserve at a secluded back-country yurt. The Limelight Dark Sky Dinner Package includes yurt rental, back-country guide, food, transportation, and two nights lodging at The Limelight, starting at $2,300.

Up to 10 people can be accommodated for the dinner. Individuals interested in booking The Limelight Dark Sky Dinner package should call 208-726-0866. Based on availability, blackout dates may apply. A two-night minimum stay is required to book. Winter only.

Galena "Ride and Glide"

Held three times a week, this Limelight Adventure gets guests out into the choice Nordic terrain around the Galena Lodge. Available on Friday, Saturday or Sunday (beginning on January 2).
  • Includes BCRD Nordic or Snowshoe pass. Snowshoes are provided and Nordic skis can be rented from Sturtevants or Galena Lodge.
  • Maximum 8 guests.
  • This season Mountain Rides (city bus) is providing free rides to Galena Lodge and no passes are required.

Snowshoe Tours

Our Snowshoe Tour with the Environmental Resource Center (ERC) takes place at the Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA) every Wednesday beginning on January 8, 2020 through March. Up to 14 guests can join us for the tour. Register at the concierge or front desk in advance (registration required and participants must be overnight guests). Groups meet at 10am and return by noon.

Another option

Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the winter, you can take a bus from the Limelight Hotel (the stop is right outside) to enjoy the Blaine County Recreation District's Nordic or snowshoe trails. We'll pay for the roundtrip bus ticket! Please see the concierge or front desk for bus times and to register. Complimentary snowshoes based on availability(guests will need to secure Nordic gear on their own). There is a maximum of 8 guests per week. Guests can choose which date. Registration required and participants must be overnight guests.
