Limelight Ketchum Community Fund

A fundamental mission of the Limelight brand is to connect itself as deeply and meaningfully as possible to the communities in which it operates. That "commitment to place" is reflected in how the Limelight’s employees and management team will approach philanthropy.

We believe a healthy community makes for happy employees and guests. So we are choosing to focus our philanthropy locally.

For Limelight Ketchum, this is achieved through the Limelight Ketchum Community Fund at the Idaho Community Foundation.

The Community Fund is a vehicle to engage the hotel’s workforce. The fund is financed by a $20,000 contribution from Limelight Ketchum, by employees through an optional paycheck deduction, and by guests through a $1-per-night donation that can be opted out of at any time. The hotel's contribution will grow with the success of the property, and the money is held at the Idaho Community Foundation in a donor-advised fund.

A board of Limelight Ketchum employees governs the fund, reviewing grant applications and determining grant recipients. They focus on supporting nonprofits providing programming for mental health, addiction counseling, environment stewardship, and youth development. All funding will be spent in the Wood River Valley.

What Can I Do As a Guest to Support This Cause?

At check-in, you will be given the opportunity to opt-out of a $1-per-night donation that goes directly to the Limelight Ketchum Community Fund.

As an Employee, What Can I Do?

You can join the Limelight Ketchum Community Fund today by donating to the fund or joining the board. Donate to the fund by completing this form and submitting it to the human resources office. The board selects new board members each spring. As a board member you make decisions about how to best spend the donations from your fellow employees, our guests, and the hotel. Current board members are happy to answer questions.

Why contribute?
  • 100% of your donation is spent in the Wood River Valley, not on overhead.
  • Your contribution is more than tripled by the Limelight Hotel Ketchum and our guests.
  • Employees decide where your money goes: the Fund is governed solely by hotel staff.

Grant Recipients

The Limelight Ketchum Community Fund awards grants in the fall each year.

Can I Apply for a Grant from the Limelight Ketchum Community Fund?

The fund accepts applications once per year in the fall. Email Marlaina Murphy for more information. Grants focus on projects that support mental health, domestic abuse prevention, education, and crisis management in the Wood River Valley. From time to time the Board will re-examine specific funding priorities and adjust its focus with input from employees.

The Environment Foundation

The Environment Foundation of Aspen One — the parent company of Limelight Hotels — is the model on which this foundation is based. Over 24 years, the employee-funded, employer-matched Environment Foundation has donated more than $4 million to over 650 local projects protecting the environment.

In addition to the employee fund, the Limelight Ketchum will consider in-kind donation requests from nonprofits in the Wood River Valley. The hotel does not have the ability to consider capital requests. Please send requests to Hannah Berman.
